Waterbase paint is with us and come Jan 2007 the pressure will be on to switch to waterbase paint. Most of our Approved Smart Technicians are on Standohyd waterbase and have found the transition from solvent relatively easy.

Most concur that the standohyd system is a pleasure to work with. The atomisation is better than solvent and drying times good, it is simple to use and the colour matching excellent. You will use more tint than you would use with the Dupont solvent-based system but the coverage is superior. With the colour blend our technicians have less problems with halos on silvers and can blend into high profile areas a lot easier. Also the standox system is pure waterbased so the guns can be cleaned easily with water. The mix process is also very simple just add 10% de-min water to your mix and spray. It is recommended that you have just one visit to the panel. To summarize our technicians have found the standox waterbase paint system easy to apply and use, it has a good shelf life and blends in easier than solvent, while the formulations provide better colour matching.
